How to Become a Dental Assistant in New Mexico

New Mexico does not require a certificate to work as a dental assistant. Board certification is required to perform oral radiography, and to perform coronal polishing, topical fluoride application or pit and fissure sealants under general supervision. A separate expanded function dental auxiliary certification covers restorative work. Verify current rules with the New Mexico Board of Dental Health Care before enrolling in any course.
New Mexico does not require a certificate to work as a dental assistant. Board certification is what the state attaches to expanded functions such as radiography, coronal polishing and sealants. Certifications and X-rays in New Mexico
No certificate is required to work as a dental assistant. Board certification is required for oral radiography under any level of supervision.

Step 1: Build real preparation first: instruments, procedure flow, infection control, and patient communication, so a hiring dentist sees you as useful in week one.

Do dental assistants need a license in New Mexico?

Can dental assistants take X-rays in New Mexico?
